I just read today that legendary character designer, Iwao Takamoto, died. Although I watched many of the shows and films he worked on, it was through Scooby-Doo that I actually became aware of who he was as an artist. I believe the man was even working until very recently because I'm pretty sure I saw his name attached to the What's New Scooby-Doo show.A brief bio can be found here.
